About The Position

The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program at Sanitas is designed for individuals with minimal to no experience in the medical field, providing them with hands-on training and classroom instruction to prepare for a career in healthcare. Participants will assist healthcare providers in patient intake and treatment, gaining essential skills such as medical terminology and phlebotomy, while working under supervision in medical facilities. This program offers a pathway to advance into higher-level roles upon successful completion.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• BLS certification
• Proficient English reading and writing communication skills
• Reasoning ability and analytical skills
• Computer skills

Nice To Haves

• Education background in the science field
• Spanish language proficiency
• Clinical experience (1 year preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake by measuring vital signs and recording information on patient charts.
• Assist with daily patient flow in areas as needed.
• Maintain a safe and aesthetic environment.
• Perform noninvasive procedures such as EKG and assist in procedures/treatments as ordered by the physician.
• Perform supervised lab work and prepare instrumental equipment for sterilization.
• Administer vaccines and medications under supervision after skills are signed off by a nurse or physician.
• Check equipment and supplies prior to use for function and expiration date; report malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Comply with Infection Control and OSHA Regulations.
• Process and handle confidential information with discretion.
• Maintain a logging system for different procedures and enter nursing procedures in the computer system.
• Check medical records and follow up on obtaining missing results prior to patient appointments.
• Rotate weekends, holidays, and shifts according to company needs.
