Medical Assistant Apprentice (MAAP) Program Description: The Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) Apprenticeship Program is a full-time, paid apprenticeship registered with the state of Florida and offered in partnership with Osceola Technical College. This program is designed to prepare participants for a career as a certified Medical Assistant through a structured combination of employment, classroom instruction, and hands-on clinical training. The apprenticeship runs approximately 6–7 months and culminates in Medical Assistant certification. Apprentices are employed full time at an Orlando Health facility while simultaneously attending required educational courses at Osceola Technical College, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants gain real-world clinical experience while developing the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a healthcare setting. The program requires travel throughout the greater Orlando area for clinical practice, training sessions, and educational activities. This paid “earn while you learn” model allows apprentices to maintain full-time employment while building clinical competencies, expanding professional experience, and launching a sustainable career pathway within Orlando Health.
