About The Position

JOB SUMMARY The Certified Medical Assistant functions as an important member of the healthcare teams by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients’ care, comfort, and safety. The individual performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System’s (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. The Medical Assistant - Apprentice performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System’s (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with AAMA or RMA, certified required.
Documented successful completion of the following courses (of their recognized course equivalent): Medical Terminology Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease Pharmacology
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire and one of the following: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification awarded by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Registered Medical Assistant registration from the American Medical Technologist (AMT)
One of the following: Graduate of a Medical Assistant program Documented successful completion of the following courses or (their recognized course equivalent): Medical Terminology from an accredited institution or completed on line through Universal Class. Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease from an accredited institution or completed on line through Universal Class. Pharmacology from an accredited institution.
Two years of Medical Assistant-related work experience and completion of the required educational courses listed above within the first 12 months from hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Enrollment in ICATAP MA Apprenticeship Program
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Keyboard, computer, and telephone proficiency.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Nice To Haves

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license awarded by the State of Wisconsin.
Experience in healthcare.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
Experience in healthcare experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
Completion of a Medical Terminology course.
Graduate of a vocational technical Health Unit Coordinator Program, Medical Office Specialist, or Medical Secretary.
Six months’ previous experience with MCHS or related entity.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
