Tri-City Cardiology has been serving the healthcare needs of the East Valley for over 40 years. We are searching for an Advanced Medical Assistant - Clinical Support to join our dynamic team! This position assists the Triage Nurses and Providers with patient care in a medical office setting by taking patient calls, assessing patient needs and triaging call to the appropriate level for optimum patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Medical Assistant Diploma
  • Two years Medical Assistant experience required in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Cardiology
  • Current BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days if not current).
  • 40 wpm typing.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability in order to resolve problems and carry out instructions.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in an effective, clear, calm, friendly and professional manner.
  • Demonstrates a high sense of urgency at all times.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all internal and external customers.
  • Manages tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Knowledge of basic computer and math skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.

Nice To Haves

  • Patient education and triage experience preferred.
  • Registered Medical Assistant Certification (RMA), or Certified MA (CMA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answers incoming calls that contain clinical concerns that need to be addressed for the entire organization.
  • Asks pertinent questions per established Triage Protocols to quickly assess the patients clinical needs, schedule a timely provider appointment, or triage the call to the appropriate person (Nurse, Provider, or Secretary).
  • Directs the patient to the appropriate level of medical support needed based on the assessment. Level of medical support may include but not limited to, primary care provider, urgent care facility or emergency care facility.
  • Accurately documents all interactions and processes completed in the chart.
  • Completes medication reconciliation with patients over the phone ensuring that their Medication List is current and accurate. This may include reviewing medication history in the EMR and previous visit notes, hospital discharge medication lists, etc.
  • Schedules Urgent Triage visits, regular provider visits, and testing appointments as needed or as ordered by the providers.
  • Provides patient instruction per physician orders on medication education, diagnostic testing, symptom assessment, etc.
  • Interacts and collaborates on a professional level to ensure optimum patient care with Triage Nurses, Providers, Secretaries, and Management.
  • Provides high quality and timely patient care and service to all patients and family members.
  • Returns all patient messages within 24 business hours.
