About The Position

The Medical Assistant in Adult Endocrinology at MRMC assists the physician in assessing the needs of patients based on information collected through history, observation, physical exam, telephone triage, and analysis of diagnostic results. This role involves performing direct patient care, including triage, assessment, procedures, treatments, patient education, discharge, and follow-up instructions. The Medical Assistant prepares patients to be seen by the provider and collects and documents pertinent information through communication with patients and family, including vital signs, history, and chief complaint. Additionally, the Medical Assistant performs chart preparation, scans necessary documents into the patient's medical record, and conducts specialized tests such as electrocardiography, pulmonary function tests, sleep studies, Holter monitors, and selected laboratory procedures as needed in the practice. The role also includes preparing and administering medications as ordered by the physician, assisting the provider with treatments and procedures, scheduling testing and referral appointments, and consulting with patients on telephone calls. The Medical Assistant is responsible for cleaning and straightening examination rooms, maintaining medical supply inventory, and developing a working knowledge of all equipment needed to perform duties. Furthermore, the Medical Assistant promotes a climate conducive to learning and actively participates in departmental quality improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • Basic Life Support CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in departmental quality improvement projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
