About The Position

UW Medical Center-Montlake - Radiation Oncology has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This position is full-time, with a work schedule of 90 to 100% FTE (36-40 hours per week) on day shifts, working 4 days per week. The role is conveniently located near public transportation and offers the chance to make a difference for patients and employees, along with opportunities for career growth. The Radiation Oncology Services team provides comprehensive and personalized evaluation, consultation, diagnosis, planning, radiotherapy, and follow-up for cancer patients and those with non-malignant conditions. Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
  • Perform injections
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Submit medication prior authorizations
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as a liaison between patient, patient's family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
  • Assist in transporting patients as required
