About The Position

The Medical Assistant 3 at Inova Schar Cancer Institute is a full-time role focused on providing patient care and administrative support in an ambulatory clinic setting. This position emphasizes continuous improvement in patient care and operational efficiency while acting as a role model for other medical assistants. The Medical Assistant 3 will collaborate closely with the clinical team to ensure effective communication and coordination of care, while also leading specialized functions and participating in various initiatives to enhance patient experience and team engagement.

Requirements

• 3 years of clinical practice experience, including at least 1 year as Medical Assistant 2 at Inova.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Medical Assistant (MA) Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Proficiency in medical terminology, excellent verbal and written communication skills, point-of-care testing abilities, and vaccination protocol.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and administrative duties according to established policies and procedures.
• Review and evaluate policies and practices to ensure continuous improvement of patient care and operational efficiency.
• Act as a role model and informal leader for other medical assistants, demonstrating clinical expertise and promoting a psychologically safe work environment.
• Build strong partnerships with the clinical team, including physicians and nurses, to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
• Coordinate MA onboarding, including precepting and identifying deficiencies for continuous training.
• Lead specialized functions in the clinic such as Epic Champion, Safety Coach, and Telemedicine Champion.
• Assist clinic leader with patient experience and team member engagement initiatives, process improvement projects, and system quality initiatives.
• Participate in continuous training and development, demonstrating efficiency in advanced procedures related to the clinic's specialty.
• Lead daily clinical huddles as assigned and ensure adequate par levels for supplies.
