The Medical Assistant 2 works under the clinical supervision of practice physician(s) and clinic supervisor/manager, assisting physicians in the practice, examining and treating patients, rooming patients, obtaining information, measuring vital signs, and recording information on patient charts/EMR. The role also involves collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Certificate, GED, training or experience
  • Licensed Practical Nurse, Paramedic, AAMA Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant (at least one required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Medical Assistant Certification within 6 months of employment if hired after 7/1/16 with a Certificate or Diploma of Completion of a Medical Assistant training program
  • For Primary Care Practices, EKG and Phlebotomy Certifications (for employees with CNA license only)
  • CNA, LPN, EMT license must be from Florida
  • Professional, organized, detail-oriented team player with effective interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Compassionate demeanor, excellent customer service skills and high ethical standards
  • HIPAA/OSHA compliance
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment efficiently
  • Proficient in computer applications and typing skills
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
  • Minimum 1 year of experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians in the practice
  • Assist in examination and treatment of patients

  • Record information on patients' charts/Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
