About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) 2-Trainer performs patient-oriented procedures and tasks at all LLUHC sites, within scope of education and training, and under the supervision of physician, supervisor, and/or licensed staff person. The MA 2-Trainer has knowledge and experience with multi-departmental clinical back-office operations. The MA 2-Trainer provides temporary coverage to the various LLUHC departments while simultaneously serving as a preceptor/mentor. Serves as a preceptor/mentor to all Medical Assistants hired through the Medical Assistant Pool during the orientation/training period, MA Students during their externship, and other clinical MAs within the Loma Linda University Health Care (LLUHC) departments as needed. The MA 2- Trainer is an advanced Super User/Champion in LLEAP Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and serves as resource person within the departments during LLEAP EMR Upgrades/Go-Lives. Assists the LLUHC Nursing Administration Department with orientation, competencies, and additional trainings/initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Proof of completion required from a Credentialed or Nationally Recognized Medical Assistant (MA) program.
  • Minimum two years of Medical Assistant clinical experience required.
  • Minimum of one-year medical assistant training experience required.
  • Minimum two years Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience required.
  • EPIC Super User/Champion training to be completed within 90 days of hire.
  • Preceptor, mentoring, and leadership training required within 90 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of outpatient clinic front office and back office practices and policies, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) user Required.
  • Able to consistently and effectively use of computer keyboard.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Operate/troubleshoot basic office/patient care equipment required for the position.
  • Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction.
  • Provides leadership abilities via example, communication, and professionalism.
  • Communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Distinguish colors and smell as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone or other electronic mode.
  • Identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch necessary for patient care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)- Provider Course certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • Valid/current unrestricted California Driver's License required.
  • Proof of valid/current auto insurance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
