About The Position

The Medical Assistant position at Mountain Park Health Center is responsible for providing excellent patient care and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other applicable laws. This role involves both front office and clinical duties, including managing patient records, assisting with medical procedures, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for patient care.

Requirements

  • Electronic Health Record experience
  • Current CPR certification
  • At least one year of medical assistant front and back office experience; six months for internal candidates

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of previous customer service experience
  • At least one year of previous medical back office experience
  • RMA/CMA certification
  • Completion of MPHC orientation program

Responsibilities

  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient privacy according to laws and MPHC policies.
  • Handle sterile and dirty instruments according to CLIA regulations.
  • Clean patient care areas following infection control procedures.
  • Keep exam and procedure rooms stocked and set up according to departmental guidelines.
  • Routinely clean medical equipment to meet quality assurance standards.
  • Identify and report malfunctioning equipment to the Lead.
  • Obtain and document chief complaints, vital signs, and medical/social histories.
  • Facilitate the completion of patient questionnaires as needed.
  • Use proper charting procedures, including noting date, time, signature, and job title.
  • Plot growth grids in pediatrics.
  • Manage telephone messages and ensure patient rescheduling within appropriate timeframes.
  • Verify, administer, and document all medications and immunizations given.
  • Manage EHR tasks daily, following established workflows.
  • Complete chart preparation daily, reviewing outstanding care items and updating EMR as needed.
  • Utilize and schedule interpreter services as required by patients.
  • Check immunizations and supplies for expired items and restock as necessary.
  • Ensure proper disposal of biohazard and sharps containers.
  • Check fax outbox for failed faxes for the department.
  • Complete daily accountability board and attend scheduled department meetings.
  • Adapt to working with different provider teams as needed for coverage.
  • Participate in preparing the department for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain training, skills, and certifications as per policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
