About The Position

Big Bend Hospice (BBH) is your “Hometown Hospice” providing compassionate end-of-life care for over 40 years to the Big Bend region. Guided by our values of integrity, respect, and excellence, we are seeking an experienced Medical and Professional Learner Program Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate for the Medical and Professional Learner Program Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of effective intern, medical learner and resident rotation and education programming. This position will partner with the Human Resources team and other organizational leaders to provide learners with support and curate a valuable learning experience through the established learner programs. The Medical and Professional Learner Program Manager will play a pivotal role in developing and executing our internship, medical learner and resident educational opportunities and initiatives, ensuring both the success of learners and the alignment of experiences with our organizational goals. Provide the highest level of customer service and coordinate with Hospitals, Medical Practices, Directors and Educational Institutions. Support all aspects of the program administration including planning, communication, tracking, and implementation. The role requires strategic oversight, contract management, and the creation of training materials to support staff and learners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Health Services or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and mentors interns, medical learners, and residents while guiding and supporting department leaders who host training programs.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to design, implement, and continuously improve internship and residency programs aligned with organizational missions.
  • Develops measurable learning objectives, evaluation processes, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Builds and manages scalable, sustainable programs across multiple disciplines, including nursing, social work, art therapy, and residency rotations.
  • Develops and manages residency rotations and bridge programs to support medical, nursing, and allied health learners.
  • Reviews, edits, and manages all MOAs, MOUs, and affiliation agreements with educational institutions.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with educational institutions, faculty, learners, and community partners, fostering strong collaborative relationships.
  • Creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs to ensure consistency and clarity in program execution.
  • Partners with department leaders to recruit, screen, and select interns from diverse academic backgrounds.
  • Promotes internship opportunities through multiple recruitment platforms to attract a broad and qualified applicant pool.
  • Coordinates all aspects of intern activities, including placement, orientation, training, and ongoing support.
  • Maintains accurate and compliant program records, applications, agreements, and evaluations using appropriate documentation systems.
  • Partners with training and development teams to support learner orientation, engagement, and professional growth.
  • Assigns learners to departments and projects aligned with their skills, interests, and learning objectives.
  • Monitors learner performance, provides feedback and mentorship, and facilitates meetings and enrichment activities.
  • Utilizes office technology and applicant tracking systems to manage recruitment, communication, and reporting.
  • Tracks tasks and projects, meets documentation deadlines, and performs other duties as assigned.
