About The Position

The Medicaid Specialist Assistant is responsible for assisting the Medicaid Specialist with all communities in evaluating Medicaid Pending applications/ accounts to monitor the status and assist in approval, assisting with training, implementing systems and procedures designed to make the Medicaid application process effective and efficient, and assure compliance with accepted accounting practices, state and federal regulations, and company policies. The Medicaid Specialist performs his/her duties in accordance with high ethical standards and in compliance with community philosophy and policies, and all federal and state laws and regulations. Ultimately, the Medicaid Specialist Assistant contributes to the smooth operation of Medicaid services, enhancing patient outcomes, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Requirements

  • An associate degree, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, and two years of elder law experience in a healthcare setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer literacy including proficiency with data entry and electronic health records.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in Medicaid services or healthcare administration.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid policies and procedures.
  • Experience with healthcare software systems beyond basic computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the Medicaid application processes and status of applications for assigned communities.
  • Evaluate systems governing the Medicaid application process to identify compliance and opportunities for improvement within all communities and make recommendations to the Administrator and Director of AR as needed.
  • Help with training Business Office Managers and other accounts with receivable associates as requested.
  • Augments as needed for the Medicaid application activities of the Business Office conducted within assigned communities.
  • Visit assigned communities as needed to teach and train.
  • Confer with the Administrator upon each visit and provide reports and updates as needed to the Director of AR.
  • Attend any administrative training meetings as scheduled.
  • Make presentations at administrative training meetings when requested.
  • Comply with customer services principles and report any concerns identified during a visit to the Administrator.
  • Is available to all communities to assist with the appeal processes, including attending appeal hearings.
  • Communicates with AR Regional Staff and promotes team-like behavior with the AR Team.
  • All other duties assigned related to Accounts Receivable.
