About The Position
The Medicaid Analyst position is located within the Louisiana Department of Health, specifically in the Medical Vendor Administration's Eligibility Field Operations in Tangipahoa Parish. This role is classified and may be filled as a probationary, job appointment, or promotional appointment. Job appointments are temporary and can last up to 48 months. The position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) for Medicaid Analyst 1 at $16.42 per hour and for Medicaid Analyst 2 at $17.56 per hour, with additional premium pay based on years of service at the Louisiana Department of Health. The ideal candidate should possess competencies such as focusing on customer needs, following policies and procedures, actively learning, thinking critically, and adapting to change. The Medicaid Analyst is responsible for making initial and continuing determinations regarding clients' eligibility for all Medicaid programs under close supervision. This entry-level position requires the analyst to acquire extensive knowledge of Medicaid policies and procedures to make timely and accurate eligibility determinations. Analysts will handle applications received through various channels, including electronically, by mail, email, in person, or by telephone. The work environment is a combination of sedentary work on a computer and assisting members via phone in a call-center format. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, possess excellent customer service skills, and be able to manage high call volumes while adhering to deadlines. This role is fundamental to the overall Medicaid program and serves as a potential stepping stone for career growth in the health insurance field.
