About The Position

The Media Services Technician Level 1 (Court Ops) at the Kings County District Attorney's Office is responsible for providing technical support and assistance during court trials and hearings. This role involves working closely with trial attorneys to ensure smooth presentations and playback of evidence, as well as performing maintenance on various technical equipment. The technician will also handle evidence processing and may be required to testify in court regarding the evidence presented.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of digital audio and video editing software, such as Adobe Audition and Premiere, and Final Cut Pro.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Valid NYS driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of technical work experience, preferably in technology and customer support.
• Working knowledge of codecs and video players.
• Experience with audio and video production, including redaction and editing.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive technical aid and Litigation Technology support in court during trials and hearings.
• Assist trial attorneys in multiple courtrooms as required.
• Support playback, presentation, and troubleshooting in courtrooms, liaising with ADA's prior to entering the courtroom.
• Perform preventative maintenance and updates on computers, Tech Trial Kits, laptops, and related accessories.
• Maintain daily logs of trials and support activities.
• Provide support with evidence redacting, extracting, and blurring of video/audio.
• Answer telephones and process evidence while maintaining records and custody of recorded materials.
