About The Position

New America is seeking a full-time Media Production Manager to support the creation of audio-visual assets and provide technical assistance for in-studio, hybrid and virtual events in the New America Studio. The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience working in multimedia production and AV for live events. The Media Production Manager will report to the Technical Director, and will work closely with the AV Technician, Director of Communications, and events staff on live in-person and virtual events. This position is expected to start in early 2026. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work experience
  • At least 5 years of combined experience in a studio or live event setting, with an emphasis on video production, video editing, podcast production, live event production and studio management
  • Ability to manage all aspects of audio-visual production, from concept through publication
  • Ability to research material for new podcast episodes, produce storyboards interview guests, edit, mix, market, publish and distribute
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills. Calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Advanced knowledge of audio-visual equipment, including cameras, lighting, microphones, video switchers and audio mixing consoles
  • Advanced knowledge of A/V production software, including Adobe Audition, Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Riverside and vMix
  • Highly creative, detail-oriented, organized and resourceful. Ability to think quickly and collaboratively to resolve technical issues during live events.

  • Ability to distill complex policy subjects and make them accessible for a general audience
  • Ability to take ownership of delegated projects and work independently, with limited supervision and instruction at times

Responsibilities

  • Record, edit, mix, and publish audio and video content, both in-studio and remotely, including podcasts, social videos, sizzle reels, event videos, animations and topical / program videos
  • Maintain proficiency in studio production equipment; video cameras, lighting, microphones, audio mixers, video switchers and computer software and hardware
  • Produce limited and ongoing audio and video podcast series on subjects relevant to New America’s mission, managing multiple podcast shows' production timelines simultaneously
  • Oversee the development of podcast concepts for New America’s programs and Central Communications department; review pitches and educate staff on podcasting best-practices; leverage internal and external experts to amplify our podcast content; write scripts for narration, intros, and outros
  • Generate and implement ideas for marketing New America podcasts; collaborate with Central Communications staff, program stakeholders and channel partners to distribute and promote content
  • Collaborate with Central Communications’ studio staff to ensure the podcast and control rooms are properly equipped and maintained; make suggestions for equipment upgrades and devise strategies for workflow and efficiency improvements
  • Identify and coordinate opportunities for New America staff to appear as guests on external podcasts
  • Stay up-to-date on editorial and technical developments in the A/V industry, seeking professional development opportunities
  • Maintain visuals, graphics and video and sound libraries Manage freelance editors and producers
  • Assist in publishing completed productions to New America’s CMS and digital channels
  • Help keep studio organized and clean; assist with managing studio inventory lists and subscriptions
  • Support production of live in-person events: mic placement, guest wrangling, remote speaker management, livestream monitoring, managing communication channels between the Central Comms studio and events teams, and program staff, camera operator for livestreams and b-roll, coordinating stage changes, building show elements (e.g. title slates, lower-thirds), monitoring slides and run-of-show documents
  • Participate in pre-event technical meetings and set up days; assist studio staff in maintaining a log of production notes for each upcoming event
  • Maintain proficiency in technical aspects of event production (e.g. video switching, streaming/recording, audio board operation, etc.)
