About The Position

As a Media Prep Technician, you will be responsible for a hybrid skillset that encompasses all aspects of the digital supply chain: source content QC, editing, transcoding, and delivery to clients all around the world. This role requires focus and determination to execute and distribute assets properly and in a timely manner while maintaining the department goal of 99.999% reliability and availability.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of NLE systems such as Avid and Adobe Premier
  • 2+ years of professional work experience in either a broadcast operations or post-production environment
  • 1+ year of experience working in a Quality Control capacity
  • Must possess an understanding of different file formats/codecs
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with colleagues in a cross-functional capacity including use of major office communication applications including Microsoft Outlook and Teams
  • Must be willing to work in Stamford, Connecticut
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the US
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have strong Communication skills (i.e. email, Microsoft Teams, Slack, and phone)

Responsibilities

  • Perform edit and prep functions within an NLE platform to produce and distribute content. Individual must possess the knowledge and skillset of Adobe Premiere edit systems
  • Perform Standards & Practice editing to meet Network requirements, including blurring, and performing Video/Audio insert fixes while maintaining audio sync and closed-captioning data information.
  • Perform high resolution Quality Control checks for feature & episodic assets including full QCs when required. QC consists of ensuring all technical aspects are exact and meet FCC/NBCU specifications
  • Ensure content is at highest quality and to the correct spec
  • Ensure all Language, Subtitle and Captioning files are in sync with video assets
  • Review and validate all metadata associated with video assets
  • Transcode assets using systems such as Vantage
  • Use internal workflows tools to track and deliver content including tracking and managing a queue of work
  • Experience working with Closed Captions in Stanza or Captionmaker
  • Familiarity with digital media file types -Quicktime, MXF, MPEG, H.264, etc.
  • Utilize various Media Asset Management (MAM) systems in order to prioritize and process NBCU content
