About The Position

The position involves coordinating the daily operations of the Greenbelt Recreation Center media lab under general supervision. The role includes planning, developing, and conducting high-quality digital learning workshops and classes focused on multimedia, workforce development, and academic enrichment. The candidate will provide digital learning opportunities for various age groups, emphasizing computer literacy and community engagement. The position also requires leveraging digital media tools to inspire students and users, developing partnerships with community organizations, and providing leadership and training to staff and volunteers.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in education, technology, or a digital media-related field.
  • Experience working with children and teenagers in a technology classroom.
  • Familiarity with Staten Island neighborhoods and constituencies.
  • Experience teaching adults and seniors in a technology classroom setting.
  • Background in curriculum development with emphasis on digital/media literacy.
  • Familiarity with the digital media community and dissemination methods.
  • Experience in graphic and web design, animation, visual arts, or film production.
  • Proficiency in general and open source computer software including Apple OS, Microsoft Windows, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic computer and software problems.
  • Excellent writing, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible, collaborative, and able to work effectively in diverse communities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the daily operations of the Greenbelt Recreation Center media lab.
  • Plan, develop, and conduct high-quality digital learning workshops and classes.
  • Provide digital learning opportunities for children, teenagers, adults, and seniors.
  • Leverage digital media tools to inspire Media Education students and lab users.
  • Work with Media Education administration to sustain and develop partnerships.
  • Attend staff development and provide leadership, training, and expertise.
  • Build technology instructional resources based on expertise.
  • Maintain and enforce media lab policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and track center members and youth program participation.
