GSD&M is searching for a Media Director to join our Planning team. The ideal candidate leads with audience-first thinking, bolstered by a digital mindset that’s balanced by the ability to seamlessly lead a cross-functional media strategy team. The role reports into the VP, Director (Planning) but is responsible for leading the overall client relationship and strategic development of media plan recommendations via research, historical client-based campaigns, and collaboration within the cross-functional agency team. This person will also be responsible for management and development of the Planning team, along with partnering closely with the Digital Solutions, Video Investment and Decision Science teams.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of marketing and advertising principles.
  • Experience in planning digital-heavy campaigns across various platforms.
  • Familiarity with media buying and planning processes in an integrated agency environment.
  • Ability to think critically and analyze performance.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with media planning and activation tools such as Kantar, Pathmatics, and Google Platform.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience negotiating digital ad standards.
  • Knowledge of media attribution and its effects on performance.
  • Curiosity about digital ecosystems and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead audience-first thinking and digital mindset in media strategy.
  • Manage overall client relationship and strategic development of media plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Digital Solutions, Video Investment, and Decision Science.
  • Develop planning objectives and strategies aligned with client marketing direction.
  • Utilize interactive media planning tools to create media plans.
  • Lead team in developing media plans, recommendations, and performance reports.
  • Provide strategic direction to media supervisors and planners.
  • Establish and maintain professional client relationships.
  • Manage the flow of client media needs and oversee budget control.
  • Collaborate with other Media Directors and Account Directors to improve operations.
