About The Position

The Media and Talent Relations Director develops and oversees all press objectives and entertainment initiatives for the Child Mind Institute. This important role intersects with special events, content production, and brand building. The Media and Talent Relations Director executes an overall press strategy, manages the agency of record, serves as our liaison to the entertainment industry and handles day-to-day media relations and press outreach on a wide range of Child Mind Institute issues. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this is a full-time, exempt, hybrid (onsite 4 days per week) position.

Requirements

  • BA or BS required,
  • 10+ years of experience working in public relations at an organization or at an agency. · Experience executing earned media strategies.
  • Ability to leverage existing direct relationships with members of the press and extensive knowledge of the operations of the news media (including print, online, and broadcast).
  • Experience creating concepts, campaigns or events and produce them from start to finish.
  • Understanding of talent relations and best practices for engaging celebrities, as well as relationships with key industry representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement press and talent relations strategy to achieve maximum brand visibility for the organization. Work with the President, CMO, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that media, entertainment, and talent engagement work supports the our goals clinical, science, and public education mission areas.
  • Draft press releases, statements, advisories, internal memoranda, briefings, message guidance, fact sheets, and other material that supports media relations efforts. Maintain press tracking for the organization.
  • Engineer publicity plans for brand building campaigns to amplify visibility for the Child Mind Institute.
  • Identify and build relationships with key journalists to connect more deeply with the Child Mind Institute, pitching them to proactively promote the Child Mind Institute, its work, and its clinical experts in a range of media outlets. Manage inquiries from reporters in order to advance the Child Mind Institute, its initiatives, and its positions.
  • Cultivate and maintain important stakeholder relationships with media partners, talent, talent representatives, and key executives in the entertainment community. Oversee elements of key media brand partnerships.
  • Create and produce talent-driven events and special programming that expand the Child Mind Institute's influence and reach.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Child Mind Institute programs and positions; work with clinicians to identify and tell patient stories that frame the Child Mind Institute mission in a meaningful way.
  • Engage in brainstorming and planning sessions on Child Mind Institute communications work, identify and share innovative new ideas and work collaboratively with agency of record.
  • Manage photography for events, special shoots, photo ops, etc.
  • Other job-related tasks as assigned.
