About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related fields.
• Two years of relevant work experience in communications or a related area.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Expertise in the effective use of social media.
• Proficient in design and publishing software (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, Canva).
• Familiarity with issues related to people with disabilities and their families.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a non-profit or educational setting.
• Knowledge of marketing principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with BCDD leadership, faculty, and staff to develop and implement an effective communications strategy.
• Support the marketing and communications efforts of the BCDD's various projects and initiatives.
• Help develop the scope and look of Center materials, including print and electronic resources.
• Develop and implement strategies that strengthen the image of the BCDD.
• Manage social media, web, digital, and print media.
• Produce program brochures, major event flyers, and other promotional materials.
• Write, edit, and distribute content, including Center publications, website content, annual reports, and press releases.
• Maintain the BCDD marketing and promotion presence on the Baylor website.
• Design, write, and produce regular Center newsletters.
• Maintain and grow a database of newsletter subscribers.
• Seek out and execute opportunities to enhance the reputation of the BCDD.
• Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and other media.
• Participate in and contribute to regular Center team meetings.
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission.
