Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
Phlebotomy certification required; Must be certified through NHA
BLS from the American Heart Association
Minimum of 100 phlebotomy sticks required
Must be computer-literate. Must be able to read and write basic English

Responsibilities

The Medical Technician is responsible to perform phlebotomy, EKG and clerical duties in the pre-surgical setting.
Performs phlebotomy on patients and follows established technique, be courteous to patients, proper labeling and identification of patient, disposing of needles and exercising standard precautions.
Prepares and maintains EKG and phlebotomy supplies for use.
Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology.
Provides patient privacy while taking EKG's.
Notifies Assistant Head Nurse/charge nurse of Equipment failure and/or need for maintenance in a timely manner
