About The Position

The primary role of a Medication Technician is to be a key player in enhancing the lives of residents by ensuring the precise and timely administration of medications and treatments. These dedicated professionals are essential to providing exceptional medical support, fostering a vibrant, caring environment that promotes the health, safety, and well-being of each resident. In addition to managing medications, they assist with daily health monitoring and offer compassionate personal care, making a real difference in the lives of those they serve every day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical assisting or a related field preferred.
  • 1 year of medication passing experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with seniors or in long-term care.
  • Position requires the ability to lift and move objects weighting up to 35 pounds without assistance.
  • Previous working knowledge of Electronic Medication Administration Records (EMAR) systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Passes medications and gives treatments.
  • Obtains and records resident vital signs, weight, food, and fluid intake and output.
  • Assist with medication refills, ordering, and inventory management to ensure an adequate supply of medications is available.
  • Assists new residents and families in the orientation process.
  • Assist with daily health monitoring, including taking vital signs, administering medications, and providing personal care as needed.
  • Assists all residents with activities of daily living, as needed.
  • Assists residents in preparing for activities, social programs, and transporting.
  • Interacts with residents in friendly manner while structuring their day and monitoring their needs.
  • Maintains accurate documentation in resident’s charts and in the Electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR).
  • Assists with meal service
