About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct resident care through the safe administration of medications in accordance with physician orders, established policies and procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Full-time employees may elect to participate in the No-Frills Pay Program, which allows employees to opt out of company-provided benefits and paid time off in exchange for an additional $3.00 per hour.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training.
  • CPR and First Aide required
  • Must have successfully completed all PA state specified Med Tech training programs.
  • Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Able to write simple correspondence.
  • Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
  • Able to work with others to build an effective team approach to care duties.
  • Able to work various schedules and flexible work hours and shifts as needed.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and the team concept
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
  • Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of their individuals in the workplace
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other
  • Must be willing to perform tasks that may involve exposure to the blood and/or body fluids
  • Must be willing to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • Must perform all additional tasks assigned to you by supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Administer and document resident medications in accordance with accepted practices and physician orders
  • Maintain accurate and timely medication documentation
  • Ensure resident rooms are prepared for new admissions
  • Greet newly admitted residents and escort them to assigned rooms as needed
  • Assist with orientation of new residents and family members
  • Communicate with physicians regarding resident care, treatment, rehabilitation, and changes in condition
  • Notify attending physicians of accidents, incidents, or changes in resident condition
  • Carry out restorative and rehabilitative programs, including self-care and independence support
  • Inspect treatment and medication areas daily to ensure cleanliness and safety
  • Obtain specimens (urine, sputum, etc.) for laboratory testing as ordered
  • Take and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and accu-checks
  • Monitor residents who are seriously ill and report concerns promptly
  • Verify food brought in by visitors complies with dietary restrictions
  • Ensure direct care staff provide care according to resident care plans and preferences
  • Frequently check residents unable to call for assistance
  • Demonstrate understanding of medication uses, side effects, and adverse reactions
  • Accurately count medications and narcotics per policy
  • Identify, document, and report adverse or unexpected medication reactions
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, pharmacies, families, residents, and management staff
  • Order, receive, store, and secure medications properly
  • Maintain locked and secure medication rooms, carts, and storage areas
  • Keep resident medical records current and accurate
  • Assist with updating resident service plans and chart documentation
  • Assist residents with scheduling and transportation for medical appointments
  • Assist in training and orientation of personal care staff
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) as directed by resident service plans
  • Encourage and emotionally support residents
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and coworkers
  • Uphold resident rights and maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Recognize and respect each resident’s unique life history and preferences
  • Prioritize tasks effectively as resident needs change
  • Communicate changes in resident needs to the Wellness Director and appropriate departments
  • Assist residents with engagement in meaningful activities when able
  • Remain compliant with all required in-services and training programs
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to equipment and supplies
  • Enforce departmental policies, including dress code and professional conduct
  • Ensure adequate availability and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain resident rooms and treatment areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition
  • Ensure staff follow proper hand hygiene and infection control practices
  • Ensure proper use of lifting equipment and safe resident handling techniques
  • Maintain knowledge of SDS/MSDS requirements and report deficiencies
