Job Summary: The Medication Technician/Resident Assistant is responsible for administering medications and assisting residents with their healthcare needs in a senior living community. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: Administers prescribed medications to residents in accordance with physician instructions and facility protocols. Monitors residents for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications and reports findings to the nurse or supervisor. Assists residents with personal care tasks, including hygiene, grooming, and daily living activities, as needed. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of medication administration, observations, and resident care in compliance with regulatory standards. Prepares and organizes medication carts, ensuring proper storage and labeling of medications. Assists in taking and recording vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, and reports any irregularities to the appropriate staff. Provides emotional support to residents and fosters a caring and positive environment. Communicates effectively with residents, families, and team members to address healthcare concerns and ensure quality care. Participates in training and orientation for new employees and contributes to maintaining a collaborative team atmosphere. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Strong attention to detail and ability to follow medication administration protocols accurately. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Dependable and punctual with a commitment to maintaining a safe and caring environment. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. State-approved medication technician training program will be provided if needed. Previous experience in a senior living or healthcare setting preferred. Preferred Qualifications: CNA, but not required Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical stamina. This position is PRN, 12 hour shifts days and/or nights and weekends.
