Location: Plainsboro, NJ Full-time/ 40 hours per week Schedule Evening Shift: 3pm - 11:30 pm (1-2 days a week) and/ 1pm - 9:30 pm remaining days (3 days a week) Mon - Fri ( every other weekend) Why Join Our Team? Penn Medicine Princeton Health is currently seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist I to work the evening shift within the Core lab AND Blood Bank. Working within the Core Lab and Blood Bank will allow you to exercise and enhance your skills in Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank. Responsibilities

  • Perform complex study procedures within the clinical section assigned.
  • Capable of completing assigned tasks using complicated automated instrumentation and techniques.
  • Work independently with attention to detail to interpret complex test results and resolve instrument and/or serologic problems.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform special responsibilities as assigned by the Section Supervisor involving the QC/PM Programs.
  • Recognize testing irregularities, identify the cause, determine the solution and resolve the problems or refer it to the appropriate levels.
  • Interface with staff to provide assistance in the resolution of problems.
  • Adhere to explicit standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain, edit and review computer and manual records to ensure accurate record keeping.
  • Provide instruction and training to other staff members, including new staff members and students.
  • Assist the supervisor in the implementation of new procedures and in decision regarding new equipment and procedures.
  • Participate in the QA program, including proficiency testing.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures in the work area and use applicable protective equipment.
  • Exercise independent judgment in the section.
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary hospital staff including medical and nursing personnel.
  • May be required to work unscheduled or varying shifts dependent upon workload or staffing requirements.
  • Perform other similar and related duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in chemical, biological or laboratory science/medical technology science.
  • Preferred previous experience in microbiology, hematology or chemistry laboratory.
  • Preferred MLT (ASCP), MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP) or other certifications specifically for microbiology M(ASCP), hematology H(ASCP) or chemistry (ASCP) or eligible to take ASCP certification within one year of hire.
