About The Position

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas. Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety. Virginia Mason Franciscan Health has a rich history of providing exceptional healthcare, dating back to 1891, and offers a full spectrum of health care services across a network of 10 hospitals and nearly 300 care sites in the greater Puget Sound region.

Requirements

  • Meet the requirements of the year long program, including preparation work and class attendance
  • Must remain in a full-time position for the entirety of the year long program
  • Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts including holidays
  • Must agree to terms and conditions of the program
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing
  • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience
  • Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state
  • Current BLS certification with the American Heart Association
  • Quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire (required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements)
  • Additional certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided
