The position is for a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) who will float between Grand Rapids and Muskegon, working night shifts only. The working requirement is to complete 3 shifts every 6 weeks, with no weekends or holidays. The RN will provide quality patient-centered care, considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs through competent clinical practice and application of the nursing process. The role integrates concepts of relationship-based care into practice and assumes accountability for nursing care of designated patients, demonstrating unit/area designated competencies.

  • View patients holistically, considering physical, psychosocial, emotional, age-specific, cultural, and spiritual factors.
  • Provide critical thinking skills by gathering and analyzing patient information and responding to patient situations.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized plans of care using evidence-based interventions.
  • Identify patient and family education needs and develop teaching plans based on existing standards.
  • Participate effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team to achieve patient outcomes.
  • Understand and prevent potential hospital-acquired conditions.
  • Meet or exceed customer service needs and create an environment that promotes patient satisfaction.
  • Communicate patient status, priority goals, and interventions effectively.
  • Manage team members to provide care for a group of patients during designated time frames.
  • Organize and prioritize individual workload around patient and unit needs.
  • Steward available resources effectively.
  • Identify own education and professional growth needs and seek resources to address them.
  • Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
  • Assume responsibility for job duties in the safest possible manner.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Nursing License in the state of practice and active BLS certification.
  • Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent clinical experience in the specialty area.
  • Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and age-specific needs.
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Critical thinking skills necessary for performing job duties.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • BSN preferred.
