What will you be doing in this role? The Medical Laboratory Assistant CPT functions with the general supervision of senior technical/clinical personnel.  Responsibilities may include collecting, receiving, processing, and distributing laboratory specimens or blood from voluntary blood donors andmunicating information about tests and test results. The MLA P activities include operational and support functions, assessment of blood donor health histories and assisting in the orientation and training of new employees.  Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issues of the patient populations(s) being served.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy Certificate that meets the mandates of the laws and regulations of the State of California.
  • Appropriate interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, patients, physicians, and other customers of the Medical Center.
  • Ability tomunicate effectively in the English language.
  • Frequent sitting and standing; occasional walking and bending; occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds for distances to 10 feet.
  • Responsiveness to auditory alarms andmunication devices including telephones, beepers, fire alarms, mechanical failure alarms.
  • Visual acuity acceptable for performing duties of this position.
  • Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients, and other customers.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of clinical laboratory experience, including familiarity with laboratory information systems, preferred.
