About The Position

South Texas Community Living is hiring a full time Medical Clerk to assist with coordinating medication supply and delivery for individuals with intellectual disabilities in group home and foster care settings in the McAllen area. Our program provides a rewarding job experience for anyone interested in promoting the independence of people with disabilities. The Medical Clerk will work under the supervision of the RN staff in a strong team atmosphere. Strong communication and team-participation skills are necessary for success in this position. Computer skills are required (Word, Excel, Outlook, and general internet navigation). Shift: Monday - Friday Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm (1 Hour lunch) Medical Clerk Duties include but are not limited to: Reviewing medication orders and coordinating with contracted pharmacy service to ensure that orders are filled as written. Receiving medications from contracted pharmacy monthly (autofill) and/or as needed; comparing original order against pharmacy label on medication package (usually blister pack) against MAR (medication administration record) to ensure that the information in all three items match (i.e., person, medication, time, dosage instructions, etc.) Communicating with group home staff ongoing and visiting group homes periodically to ensure adequate supply of medications. Scheduling and coordinating the transportation for medical appointments for individuals residing in group homes; maintaining record of follow up appointments and assisting RNs in preparing consultation forms for physician to complete during visit. Assisting in medical appointment transportation, on occasion. Medical and case record filing, as needed. Requirements

  • Valid and current Texas Driver's License
  • Clear Background Check
  • Clear DMV Check
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Proof of Education
  • No confirmation of Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation of an elderly or disabled person
  • No history of Medicaid fraud.
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and general internet navigation).
  • Strong communication and team-participation skills
