About The Position

The MedCenter Air Paramedic I position functions as a member of the transport team responsible for the care of ill and injured patients. The role involves providing patient care while promoting safety and efficiency under the direct supervision of the Medical Control Physician. The paramedic must maintain necessary certifications, skills, and continuing education, ensuring vehicles are in a mission-ready status. The position requires accurate documentation of patient care and adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Successful completion of an accredited EMT-Paramedic training program required.
  • Current NC EMT-P certification required.
  • SC EMT-P and National Registry Paramedic certifications preferred at time of hire.
  • BCLS and ACLS required.
  • PALS, S.T.A.B.L.E. and NRP preferred.
  • Approved trauma certification required within 6 months of employment.
  • Atrium Health approved driving course to be completed within 90 days of hire.
  • One-year active field pre-hospital experience required.
  • Three years total paramedic experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and qualify as insurable by Atrium Health insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

  • SC EMT-P and National Registry Paramedic certifications.
  • PALS, S.T.A.B.L.E. and NRP certifications.
  • Three years total paramedic experience.

Responsibilities

  • Completes skills check in a timely manner with accuracy.
  • Maintains a clean environment including the base and vehicles.
  • Checks, restocks, and cleans at the beginning of the shift and as needed.
  • Provides accurate and legible documentation of patient care.
  • Ensures that charts are placed in the patient's medical record in a timely manner.
  • Reviews charts regularly with leader/manager.
  • Provides quality patient care and education in accordance with policies and state regulations.
  • Administers medications and IV solutions safely and correctly.
  • Follows guidelines and procedures independently when Medical Control is not available.
  • Assists with public relations and marketing activities when needed.
  • Follows safety guidelines and procedures, ensuring seat belts are worn by crew and passengers.
  • Maintains flexibility with vehicle assignments as needed.
