Keystone is located in Canton SD, just a short drive from Sioux Falls, SD. PURPOSE STATEMENT: Assist with the administration of medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Scheduled Shifts are 8 Hours / Day per week with shift differentials available TRAINING AND ORIENTATION Keystone Treatment Center is committed to Training and Safety. All New Hire Counselors will attend a 2 Day Facility Orientation and Patient Treatment Program Overview before spending 2 Weeks in Unit Orientation with a Preceptor. We can accommodate shadow shifts for interested candidates! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE MEDICATION AIDE (MEDAID) This individual will work in office answering telephone, assessing callers. checking payer sources, scheduling transportation for treatment, helping with the admissions process, doing data entry and doing room assignments. This person must have compassion and empathy for the individual seeking help for their disease. They need a working knowledge of the disease of addiction and a willingness to help the patient and their families. This will be a rotating shift and weekends. Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment, under the direction of charge nurse or supervisor. Administer prescribed medications to patients according to established protocols and physician orders. Prepare and organize medication doses, including oral, topical, and other forms as directed. Ensure medications are stored and handled in accordance with safety guidelines and regulatory requirements. Document patient interactions and report changes in patient conditions or behaviors by communicating with team. Significant changes are reported to nurse immediately. Document timely, accurate, and appropriate information in patient medical record. Identify self to patient and visitors promptly and respond to patient requests quickly. Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner and attempt to understand the source of distress. Apply de-escalation techniques to help manage patient's emotions, behavior, and participation in treatment. Communicate clearly and effectively to patients, family members, guests, and other members of the health care team. Adherence to work schedule and overall attendance. Follow established policies, procedures, and standards for patient care. Stay informed about changes in medication practices and healthcare regulations. Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required. Collaborate with other staff in working with the population of the facility to treat and rehabilitate. Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority. OTHER FUNCTIONS: Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
