About The Position

The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a University of Texas at Austin-supported semiconductor consortium of state and local government, preeminent defense electronics and semiconductor companies, national labs and nationally recognized academic institutions. Our mission is to develop and execute a state-of-the-art 3D Heterogenous Integration manufacturing technology roadmap, and to provide critical pilot manufacturing capabilities to address national security needs and catalyze domestic economic growth. Requirements

  • At least 4 years of prior work experience in electrical/mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, test and measurement, or other relevant disciplines for Mechatronics Test Engineer I.
  • At least 6 years of prior work experience in electrical/mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, test and measurement, or other relevant disciplines for Mechatronics Test Engineer II.
  • At least 8 years of prior work experience in electrical/mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, test and measurement, or other relevant disciplines for Mechatronics Test Engineer III.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, or relevant disciplines.
  • Hands-on and well versed in using hand tools, assembly, bring-up and testing.
  • Experience writing and maintaining test scripts/programs and data analysis.
  • Troubleshooting and electro-mechanical system debugging experience.
  • Basic experience with PLC's (Beckhoff, Allen Bradley or similar).
  • Basic CAD experience (CREO, SolidWorks or similar).
  • Basic PCB design experience (Altium Designer or similar).
  • Goal oriented and ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or higher in electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, or relevant disciplines.
  • More than 4 years of prior work experience in electrical/mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, test and measurement, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following areas: nanofabrication, precision machine design, mechatronics, systems and controls, instrumentation, optical systems design.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabrication, assembly of mechatronic testbeds for novel semiconductor subsystems.
  • Verification & Test of built subsystems and testbeds.
  • Data collection and analysis for quality control.
  • Requirements verification and testing.
  • Creating and maintaining up-to-date models of the above equipment systems.
  • Spec and Procurement of various equipment sub-systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
