Mechatronics & Robotics Technician - 1st Shift Location: Hudson, Wisconsin General Motors CCA Facility Compensation: $28-40/hr Job Summary Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on automated material handling equipment and robotic systems in a warehouse environment. This role combines electrical, mechanical, and robotic system expertise to troubleshoot complex automation, maintain conveyor equipment, and ensure continuous operations while adhering to safety protocols and comprehensive documentation standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience with PC competency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and automation principles
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex system troubleshooting
  • Manual dexterity for precision work on robotic and automation components
  • Understanding of safety protocols for automated equipment
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and perform repetitive physical movements
  • Work 12-hour shifts with extended standing and walking
  • Capability for detailed manual tasks requiring eye/hand coordination
  • Strong attention to detail for maintenance documentation
  • Communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Adaptability to changing operational needs and emergency requirements
  • Safety consciousness in automated environments

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Technology, or related field
  • Technical certifications in robotics, automation, or industrial maintenance
  • PLC programming certification (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
  • 2+ years experience with automated conveyor systems and robotic controls
  • 2+ years experience in robotic system maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Experience with AutoStore ASRS or similar automated storage systems
  • Knowledge of industrial robotics programming and maintenance
  • Experience with CMMS systems and computerized maintenance management
  • Experience with PLC systems and industrial automation networks
  • Knowledge of lean maintenance practices and reliability-centered maintenance
  • Project management experience for automation initiatives
  • Understanding of integration between mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies and condition monitoring

Responsibilities

  • Complete preventative maintenance routines on robotic and automated systems with proper documentation
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and robotic components
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on automated conveyor systems, robotics, and integrated controls
  • Conduct predictive and preventative maintenance procedures to minimize equipment downtime
  • Maintain and troubleshoot robotic cells, AutoStore systems, and automated storage/retrieval equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and robotic programming documentation
  • Troubleshoot PLC systems, input/output functions, and automation controls
  • Support integration between mechanical, electrical, and software components
  • Promote safe working environment following OEM guidelines and established safety procedures
  • Document all maintenance activities and equipment status using CMMS systems
  • Track department inventory for maintenance supplies and replacement parts
  • Maintain positive working relationships across all facility operations
  • Work in various positions including bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching for equipment access
  • Move up to 49 pounds and perform maintenance tasks during 12-hour shifts
  • Operate in challenging conditions including small spaces, varying temperatures, and industrial environments
