About The Position

In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam's etch and deposition products. Mechatronics Engineering is part of the centralized Global Product Engineering Group. Lam Mechatronics Engineering has a proven track record of rapid innovation in semiconductor equipment automation, including VORTEX™ wafer handling robots, process chamber mechanisms, and Lam Equipment Intelligence smart devices. As a Mechanical Engineer within Mechatronics, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact across multiple Lam product groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 15+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 12+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and mechatronics engineering principles and fundamentals, including motion control, systems design, design principles, machine elements, materials, fabrication methods, and integration and testing.
  • Extremely knowledgeable in using 3D CAD tools such as ProE, NX, etc. is required.
  • Able to deliver in a dynamic, challenging, and fast-paced working environment to challenging development schedules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent presentation skills, and strong customer-interaction skills.
  • Strong skills and experience in problem-solving, time and priority management, communication, and project management.

Nice To Haves

  • Semiconductor industry experience is not required, but a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of projects for developing robotics for semiconductor wafer handling: requirements, design/analysis, assembly, testing, integration, and volume manufacturing.
  • Plan budget/technical requirements and meet schedules.
  • Provide work leadership and training to junior and new engineers.
  • Direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing, and prototype fabrication.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.
  • Provide design information to drafting for packaging documentation.
  • Communicate among diverse teams (process engineers, technicians, software/controls, suppliers, etc.).
  • Work with suppliers to source parts in accordance with performance and cost objectives.
