About The Position

As a Mechatronics Engineer at Lam you’re responsible for designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. You will be responsible for a variety of robotics related topics including path planning, computer vision detection, system integration, and testing both the hardware and software supporting these systems. Your role involves collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design, test, and troubleshoot support hardware for semiconductor systems, including but not limited to special application end effectors for a 6-axis robotics platform.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics or related field with 5+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years; or equivalent experience in robotics (manipulation) and computer vision
• Excellent intuition with system hardware and physics
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
• Highly proficient in 3D CAD tools such as CREO, Siemens NX, ProE, SolidWorks, and others.
• Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.
• Understanding of Design of Experiment (DOE) principles
• Ability to work independently. Experience problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities
• Understanding of statistical process control and analysis

Nice To Haves

• Background in robotics /machine (deep) learning /reinforcement learning
• Experience with robotic hardware design and end effector application development.
• Knowledge of C++, Python, OpenCV, TensorFlow or PyTorch, JS + React, ROS, ROS2
• Experience with web APIs or SDKs

Responsibilities

• Support the full life cycle of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems from concept to productization including conceptualization, designing, CAD modeling, development, and test/validation.
• Designs components using variety of metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings.
• Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Conduct detailed analysis including structural, finite element analysis (FEA), thermal, heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid and gas flow dynamics, and manufacturability to properly specify designs.
• Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews.
• Program robotic paths/behaviors for 6-axis arms
• Design, build, test, and troubleshoot robotic systems
• Integrate sensors and actuators into robotic systems and analyze and optimize robotic system performance and accuracy
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers.
