As the Mechatronics Development (Dev) Manager, you will direct the work of engineers to ensure the best practices around mechatronics system design and development. You will oversee your team's day-to-day responsibilities in designing, building, testing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting mechatronic systems and components that integrate mechanical, electrical, and software engineering principles. You will ensure that project and department milestones and goals are met while staying within approved budgets. Additionally, you will work to establish functional requirements, design specifications, and review solutions to ensure that organizational needs are met. You will evaluate and resolve technical feasibility, design optimization, and production issues. In collaboration with your team and other departments, you will establish strategies for design, technology, product development, and vendors. You will also be responsible for modifying existing mechatronic systems that may contain errors or require upgrades. A strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, and software engineering is essential to succeed in this role. Effective communication will be crucial, as you will need to collaborate with customers, engineering staff, and other departments. In some cases, you will assign tasks to engineers. You will typically report to top management and will need a deep understanding of departmental processes to excel in this position.
