About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. Position Overview We are seeking a Mechanisms Production Technician to join our fast-paced manufacturing team. This role focuses on the production and testing of mechanical components such as hinges, functional assemblies, and small structural elements. The ideal candidate has an engineering background, enjoys hands-on work, and brings strong problem-solving skills and team energy to a collaborative environment. Shift 1- Days: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (4x10s).

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 0–5 years of experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or engineering environments.
  • Exposure to mechanisms, structural testing, or environmental testing is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Energetic and proactive with a positive attitude.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Ability to work in a standard manufacturing environment and lift components as required.
  • Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks and operate hand tools safely.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with functional mechanical assemblies, hinges, or small components.
  • Understanding of mechanical loads, tolerance, and material behavior.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with CAD and engineering documentation a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, and inspect mechanical components and functional assemblies for space applications.
  • Conduct structural load testing and functional evaluation of mechanisms to verify performance and durability.
  • Support thermal and environmental testing processes.
  • Ensure proper bonding, alignment, and tolerance adherence during assembly.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production leads to troubleshoot and improve mechanisms.
  • Follow standard work instructions while contributing ideas for process improvement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of tests, assemblies, and inspections.
