About The Position

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 18 years of age or older
• Valid Driver's License
• One year mechanical work experience or training
• One year experience reading and interpreting technical drawings or schematics.

Nice To Haves

• Two years diesel mechanic experience
• Completion of a mechanical vocational or trade school program.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, air brake equipment, running gear or locomotive components.
• Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
• Rivet, bolt, glue, braze or weld to fabricate, modify or design replacement parts for equipment.
• Fabricate, cut, shape, and perform finish operations using various types of materials.
• Perform periodic service on locomotives.
• Move locomotives.
• Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
