About The Position

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Wrenchers for our RiverRenew project in Alexandria, VA. SUMMARY Installation of mechanical piping and process equipment. Includes working within industrial facilities. Completing demolitions of existing facilities and process flows and installation of new mechanical systems process equipment. Experience with mechanical pipe installation (including ductile, flange, pvc, etc.), couplings, valves, pumps, pressure testing, instrumentation installation. Experience with assembling, installing, layout of piping systems.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one– or two–step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Ability to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently work or walk on uneven ground and is required to wear steel toed boots at all times.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • May also work in a confined space which requires use of a respirator.
  • Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to high precarious places.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Responsibilities

  • Align pipes in pipeline sections according to specifications.
  • Flange Pipe make-up
  • Sweats Copper
  • Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of pipes and process equipment.
  • Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods and/or transit levels.
  • Installation of interior PVC Piping, Thread Piping, in-line instrumentation
  • Assists others with hands-on work, including but not limited to, concrete, pipelaying and excavation
  • Works in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
