Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical validation or testing, preferably in consumer electronics or wearables.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical test methods (drop, shock, vibration, thermal, humidity, IP, etc.).
  • Experience with test equipment, data acquisition systems, and failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with product development cycles (proto to PVT) and cross-functional project execution.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with risk management and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute detailed mechanical validation test plans for wearables, covering different areas of lifecycle testing.
  • Define validation scope, objectives, and deliverables for each product phase (from prototype to production).
  • Set up and maintain test fixtures, equipment, and prototype devices for validation activities.
  • Work with design, hardware, and manufacturing teams to align on validation requirements and schedules.
  • Participate in design reviews, provide feedback on mechanical robustness, and suggest design improvements based on test results.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to identify failure modes and root causes.
  • Document and communicate test results, issues, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive validation documentation and dashboards (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • Drive resolution of mechanical issues by collaborating with engineering teams during validation phases.
  • Proactively unblock teams and adjust focus areas to ensure timely issue closure.
  • Contribute to process improvements in validation methodologies, test automation, and lab infrastructure.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in mechanical validation for wearables.
