About The Position

As a Mechanical - Utility Worker at CSX Corporation, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and servicing locomotives and associated equipment. Your primary responsibilities will include cleaning, servicing, and supplying locomotives, as well as transporting supplies between work and storage sites. This position requires adherence to all CSX rules and policies for safety and operations, as well as compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements. You will be expected to perform a variety of support and clean-up activities in locomotive and car repair areas, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently. In this role, you will be responsible for cleaning both the interior and exterior of locomotives, as well as associated equipment and mechanical parts. You will supply locomotives with necessary materials and complete routine reports, making entries into log and inventory records. Additionally, you will be tasked with cleaning empty cars and checking fuel or water sight glass/gauge to determine fluid levels on tools, machines, or equipment. Preventive maintenance on a variety of tools, machines, and equipment will also be part of your duties. Depending on the needs of the operation, you may be required to operate locomotives and heavy-duty equipment, as well as licensed and unlicensed vehicles, while working around all types of moving equipment. This position offers a structured pay progression based on your tenure, starting at a training rate of $28.21 per hour, which is 85% of the applicable rate per the collective bargaining agreement. As you gain experience, your pay will increase according to the established schedule, with the potential to reach a full rate of $33.18 per hour after 37 months. Training will be provided, and CSX will cover travel and lodging expenses as required by the collective bargaining agreement.
