About The Position

The Mechanical/Thermal Intern position at Nokia is a 10-week internship designed for candidates pursuing a Ph.D. or Master's degree in relevant fields. The intern will engage in research and development of mechanical and thermal hardware solutions for next-generation wireless communication and sensing systems, specifically focusing on radio systems operating in the mm-Wave and THz frequencies for 6G and beyond. The role involves collaboration with Bell-Labs researchers and engineers, requiring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently within a team.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Ph.D. or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design software (e.g., Creo, Solidworks).
  • Experience with thermal and/or mechanical simulation and analysis software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ANSYS Icepack, FloTHERM, or equivalent simulation software.
  • Experience with Ansys Mechanical or equivalent simulation software for mechanical integrity.
  • Knowledge of mechanical material characterization and thermal performance testing.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Bell-Labs researchers and engineers to design mechanical/thermal hardware for radio systems.
  • Utilize 3D CAD design software to create technical drawings and models.
  • Perform mechanical integrity and thermal simulations, tolerance analyses, and characterization.
  • Collaborate with other teams within Bell-Labs to ensure project success.
