About The Position

Responsible for the mechanical and thermal design, integration, and validation of vehicle HVAC and power-pack-related thermal systems for military ground vehicles, supporting both prototype development and production programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • 1–3 years of experience in mechanical and/or thermal engineering roles
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical and thermal engineering principles
  • Experience supporting prototype and/or production build activities
  • Experience developing or working with engineering documentation and specifications
  • Abillity to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to other facilities and military installations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup
  • Prior experience with ground combat or military vehicle systems
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems in vehicle or defense applications
  • Experience working in confined spaces and around military vehicles
  • Ability to pass ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirement) testing

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and thermal design engineering for:
  • Power pack (engine/transmission) thermal systems
  • Vehicle electronics cooling
  • Crew cabin HVAC systems
  • Derive vehicle-level performance requirements and develop, release, and maintain engineering design specifications
  • Conduct fluid flow and thermal analyses to size and optimize distribution systems
  • Develop alternative design concepts and support trade study analyses
  • Design, select, and integrate HVAC components and subsystems
  • Track and manage weight, cost, thermal, and power allocations
  • Develop and maintain Technical Data Packages (TDPs); release drawings per the Engineering Release Plan (ERP)
  • Prepare and support supplier documentation, including:
  • Statement of Work (SOW)
  • Critical Item Development Specification (CIDS)
  • Interface Control Document (ICD)
  • Source Selection Plan (SSP) for Requests for Proposal (RFPs)
  • Participate in supplier source selection, including technical and cost proposal evaluations
  • Manage supplier design development, technical action items, and engineering communications (virtual and onsite)
  • Provide technical oversight during design, build, and validation phases to ensure requirements are met
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and materials for formal design reviews
  • Conduct engineering evaluations in a laboratory environment
  • Investigate, resolve, and implement corrective actions for production, supplier, or field issues
  • Support prototype builds, including test plan development, test execution, and test reporting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, designers, and prototype shop personnel
  • Plan, organize, and track project progress to meet schedule and budget objectives
  • Develop Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, Basis of Estimate (BOE) inputs, and project plans for future work
