About The Position

The position at Steel Dynamics involves performing various tasks in accordance with health, safety, and environmental requirements. The role requires the individual to ensure that monitoring and measuring equipment is verified before use, collect and prepare samples for testing, and perform and evaluate mechanical tests according to standard procedures. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on all testing lab equipment and reporting any issues to the Mechanical Testing Lab Lead Technician or the Testing Lab Supervisor. Collaboration with others to repair Mechanical Testing Lab equipment is also a key responsibility, along with maintaining a high level of cleanliness inside and outside of the lab.

• Self-Motivated and able to work consistently without direct supervision
• Works well with others and independently
• Quality & detail oriented
• Mechanically inclined
• Willing to work scheduled & unscheduled overtime
• Ability to work in extreme environments
• Ability to perform repetitive stretching, reaching, lifting and walking to support routine responsibilities
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to drive to pick-up samples from different operating units
