About The Position

As a Special Tooling Technician, you will be responsible for prototype fabrication, assembly, inspection and rework/repair of non-deliverable hardware, special tooling and special test equipment. Prototype/production builds require operation of manual mill and lathe, precision part inspection/measurement equipment, as well as other standard machine shop tools and equipment. Additional responsibilities will include updating and tracking shop job statuses using Excel, performing Special Tooling R&M as well as supporting test fixture build and assembly as required. The ideal candidate should anticipate the following responsibilities: General knowledge and experience in metal fabrication processes and utilization of hand tools Demonstrated experience in operating manual mill and lathe, saw, drill, and inspection equipment to meet precision machining and measurement requirements Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Window, Excel and Word Ability to read and interpret assembly and tooling engineering drawings Ability to execute work while following all shop safety procedures Consistently display effective communication and strong professional behaviors

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or GED with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative work ethic to work with others in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Physical ability to lift heavy tooling, work with hands positioned above head, and ability to use ladders and step stools
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of SAP (APEX, PRISM), cPDM and Property system (i.e., SPS)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Adapt quickly to changing situations and urgent requests to ensure business needs are met
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Previous DoD experience
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed to support the factory
