About The Position

Under supervision, assists in the performance of corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance on the mechanical components and instrumentation in the water and wastewater systems.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic tools and repair methods
  • Knowledge of function and assembly of mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety equipment and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction documents and drawings
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Basic skill in word processing software.
  • Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to use the computerized maintenance and management system.
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to PC, fax machine, pickup, radio, hand tools, plant process equipment, power tools, instrumentation, calculator and copier.
  • Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including but not limited to carrying, climbing heights up to 150 feet, dragging, driving, filing, holding, kneeling, lifting up to 100 pounds, pulling, pushing seeing, sitting, sorting, squatting, standing, stooping, typing, walking and writing.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to organize tasks.
  • Ability to become familiar with and carry out documented procedures from reference documents including Lake Arlington Operations and Maintenance Manual, Security Plan, and Emergency Action Plan.
  • A high school education plus one year of mechanical experience.
  • Possession of a valid Texas Operator's License, Class C, required.
  • Required to obtain a Class D Water Operator’s License or higher from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, within five (5) months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Able to learn about and apply maintenance of water treatment processes and equipment, safety, regulatory requirements, and general Water Treatment maintenance procedures.
  • Able to learn about and apply performance of corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance of the mechanical and instrumentation components of water treatment plants, elevated storage tanks, lift stations, pump stations and lake Arlington dam.
  • Will perform general maintenance activities that include cleaning, landscaping, painting, hauling, and parts procurement, including ordering and receiving materials, equipment and other supplies.
  • Shall participate in security checks of department facilities, equipment, and work activities at locations including water treatment plants, elevated storage tanks, lift stations, pump stations, and Lake Arlington Dam.
  • Will respond to customer requests and conduct special projects and studies for management as requested.
  • Able to serve in an on-call and/or after-hours capacity as needed.
  • Able to serve on the Water Treatment Safety Committee, and perform work in a safe manner using safety equipment according to department safety procedures and policies.
  • Shall perform general maintenance activities.
