About The Position

The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Provides leadership and assists in the supervision of subordinate mechanics including scheduling, assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work, and offering training, mentoring and direction as needed. Performs some duties of a maintenance supervisor as required in the supervisors’ absence. Inspects, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs all types of mechanical, structural and operational equipment owned and operated by the agency. Performs general maintenance, such as structural and mechanical metal fabrication, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, insulating and minor electrical repairs. Performs minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary. Performs daily, monthly and annual preventive maintenance checks and services. Prepares, creates and processes reactive and routine preventive maintenance work orders within a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software), daily work sheets, purchase requisitions and related paperwork. Performs QA/QC on subordinates assigned work orders. Responds to emergency repair requests in a timely manner, ensures minimal downtime of equipment and systems. Assists in maintaining parts and supply inventory. Makes recommendations and provides information required to complete employee appraisals of subordinate mechanics. Maintains the maintenance of pump station sites, treatment plants and other facilities owned and operated by the agency as needed or required. Assures that safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines. Monitors employees’ adherence to safety guidelines. Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints, and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility. Maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment. Maintains a professional courteous manner with all residents, vendors, contractors, internal and external customers. Serves as an on-call support 24 hours a day as scheduled and responds to emergency situations as necessary. Attends conferences, meetings, training, seminars, etc., as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills. Management may assign additional duties as trained for and qualified to do so related to the work of the position as necessary.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training.
  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in mechanical equipment maintenance and repairs and a minimum of one (1) year as Maintenance Tech II or equivalent level experience.
  • Must completee Pump, Missions, and Vega Training or complete Pump, Rigger, and Electrical Safety Training within one (1) year from date of hire.
  • Requires 5S training.
  • Must complete Microsoft excel, word, outlook certification within one 1 year from date of hire.
  • Requires confined space training 8-hour certification within ninety (90) days from date of employment, transfer, or promotion.
