About The Position

As a Mechanical Systems Test Engineer on the Operations Systems Engineering team at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL., main responsibilities include: Develop test procedures and conduct system testing and operation of the vehicle and ground systems from receipt of the vehicle through launch at our East and West Coast Launch Sites on 2nd shift. Analyze test data including off-nominal data for accuracy. Perform troubleshooting of vehicle and ground systems when anomalies occur. Some testing may involve hazardous operations of systems including work at heights, confined spaces, ordnance, and propulsion fluids systems (cryogenic, non-cryogenic, hydraulics, and pneumatics)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university
  • The primary shift will be 2nd (M-F, 3:30p-1a), after an initial training period
  • Familiarity with fluid systems (cryogenic, non-cryogenic, hydraulics, and pneumatics)
  • Proficient in propellant systems component assembly and testing
  • Troubleshooting, problem-solving, rapid decision-making, coordination and presentation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Must be available for periodic travel to other ULA sites
  • Ability to work at elevated heights and small spaces
  • This position will require working extended hours, weekends, and 1st or 3rd shifts as necessary to support vehicle processing and launch

  • Demonstrated strong team and project leadership with integration skills
  • Proficient in leading technical teams
  • Experience with:
  • Drawings utilizing CREO, NX and AutoCAD a plus
  • Working in the Aerospace or commercial manufacturer industry
  • Working with manufacturers and contractors of hydraulic, propellant, and other aerospace system components
  • Troubleshooting system and component failures for quick resolution
