About The Position

We are seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer II to join our team in Windsor Locks, CT. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing functional system architecture for engine control systems. You will work closely with an integrated product team to define and manage system components using physics-based models, while ensuring system designs meet customer requirements. This role also involves developing detailed functional schematics, layouts, and component details, conducting design verification and certification tests, and post-processing test results. If you have a strong foundation in mechanical systems engineering and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge engine control systems.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • DoD Clearance: Secret

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical, systems, or aerospace engineering is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Coding (VBA, Python, or similar) experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in a team environment to design functional system architecture, defining major components and subsystems using physics-based models.
  • Develop detailed functional schematics, concept layouts, sketches, and preliminary component details.
  • Develop, manage, and communicate system requirements to the integrated product team.
  • Investigate design factors and conduct trade studies to identify optimal solutions to meet both internal and external customer requirements.
  • Support testing for systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Support design verification and certification tests, post-process and analyze test results in relation to design specifications and objectives.
