About The Position

The mechanical system engineer ensures sustained long-term equipment performance. System engineers integrate reliability strategies into station operations, focusing on proactive identification and resolution of equipment issues before failure. The system engineer collaborates with maintenance, fleet engineering and operations teams to optimize asset health, minimize risk, and maintain compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET accredited).

Nice To Haves

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in work management software [Maximo]
  • Familiarity with maintenance practices for mechanical components [pumps and/or valves]
  • Knowledge of causal analysis methodologies (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Root Cause Analysis) and predictive technologies.
  • An ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions, based on experience and appropriate industry practices, in order to make timely decisions which might impact plant safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Performance Monitoring & System Health: Perform routine trending of system parameters to identify early signs of equipment issues.
  • Work cross-functionally with schedulers, operators and maintenance to ensure work needed for system reliability is performed at the right time and with proper quality.
  • Perform routine system walkdowns to identify degrading equipment early.
  • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Review and update existing maintenance strategies to account for industry best practices and lessons learned from previous implementations of maintenance.
  • Corrective Action & Continuous Improvement: Lead root cause evaluations and corrective action plans for equipment failures.
  • Drive initiatives for long-term planning and life-cycle management of critical assets.
  • Fleet Standardization & Governance: Participate in industry benchmarking.
  • Ensure compliance with Maintenance Rule (10 CFR 50.65) and SNC quality standards.
